So I have always been a huge Rosie O’Donnell fan. I used to go to her TV show all the time, I saw her in FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, NO NO NANETTE, & LOVE, LOSS, AND WHAT I WORE. I met her at all the stage doors, at a a community forum event and after party with Rabbi Schmuley in New Jersey, and at signings for two of her books. Its’s to the point where she recognizes me now, even if she doesn’t know me by name.

A few encounters ago (Love, Loss…) I gave her a copy of a documentary about Marfan syndrome that I worked on at my last job with Ann Reinking, because I know she enjoys documentaries, is a huge Broadway fan, and likes stories of kids overcoming difficult odds. Of course, I slipped my business card in the DVD case. She reached out to me a few days later and said she wanted to help get the word out about the film, and asked if we could arrange to have Annie on her (then) new Sirius Radio show.

Rosie introduced the segment y saying, “This next segment is gonna be great. I was doing “Love Loss and What I Wore” off-Broadway and this guy came up to me at the stage door and gave me a copy of this film by Ann Reinking, and I loved it. We’ll have Ann Reinking when we come back.”

The segment was awesome, with Rosie and Annie speaking for about 25 minutes. Since I knew part of the show features a call-in segment, I took a chance and got through on my first try. I told the screener, “I’m the guy!” He quizzed me a little to make sure, and then put me on the air at the end of the segment.

I was so thrilled at the professional success of getting the film exposure, getting Annie on the show, and talking to Rosie on the air that I recorded a piece of it and made it my ringtone.

I’m a dork. But I LOVES ME MY ROSIE!
